I was doing some work for a website which had a database of around 45,000 loyal subscribers who had all signed up to a monthly online real estate investing newsletter.

One day I was browsing randomly around the web, when I stumbled across a website that left me absolutely stunned...

Somehow I ended up on some corporate website, and found myself watching a video sales presentation about their product - a sales force automation product.

I couldn't wait - I got immediately to work:

I borrowed an ordinary camcorder, scripted a sales pitch for a new product that we were planning to release - it was called "Wealth Spy" and was an audio product containing interviews with 4 successful real estate investors on CD.

The whole video lasted about 5 minutes but it took me the whole afternoon to finish... (knowing what I know now, I would have done a lot of things differently) .

Here's My Original Plan:

I originally wanted to use this sales video in conjunction with a regular long-form sales letter. I was going to run a "split test" to test two versions of the sales letter.

1. One version with video.

2. One version without the video.

I eventually got the video online, and rigged up our shipping system so that we would receive automated e-mails whenever someone ordered Wealth Spy...

But I didn't finish the job...

...I never uploaded the long-form sales copy text.

You see, the CD's for the product were still in production and there were some more urgent marketing campaigns I was looking after in the mean time. (And, to be honest, maybe I got a little bit distracted too... which tends to happen to internet marketers!)

So the sales page just sat there... I didn't even touch the web page for about two weeks.

That's why you can imagine my surprise when I got a call from my fulfillment company asking "What is this Wealth Spy product you want us to ship out?" because...

Two customers had someone how managed to stumble upon an unadvertised product sales letter (God knows how! It wasn't even listed in our store!), and...
